Mid-Year 2025 Updates from ACW

Updated: 4 days ago

Dear ACW Family,

With 2025 halfway behind us, we’re excited to highlight some of our shared accomplishments so far. Through your ongoing support – from generous contributions to championing our in-house brands, Avirose and Vedanta – you’ve played a vital role in advancing our mission.

The first half of the year has been filled with meaningful progress, powerful stories of healing, and community-led impact. Here’s a look at what we’ve accomplished together:

Lives Rescued, Stories Rewritten

Raksha Animal Welfare

Our friends at Raksha carried out several truly heroic rescues, made possible through your donations. Featuring a few below:

Pari, a one-month-old puppy, was brought in after a devastating road accident left her with a shattered and infected hind leg. Despite her fragile size and critical condition, she bravely underwent amputation surgery and is now on the road to recovery.

John, a cat attacked by a group of dogs, suffered a traumatic fracture that left his bone protruding from his hind limb. After struggling in pain for several days, he was rescued and treated. Today, he’s made a remarkable recovery and will be neutered during an upcoming outreach camp.

Mahadev, a calf suffering from multiple leg fractures, underwent surgery where implants and pins were used to support the damaged limbs. With time and care, he regained the strength to stand and is now steadily improving.

Almighty Animals Sanctuary

In one of the most large-scale interventions of the year, 57 cattle being illegally trafficked for slaughter were bravely rescued. With funding from ACW, the team at Almighty provided them with a specialized diet and close medical attention to restore their strength and well-being.

Benji, a severely injured dog found screaming in pain, had exposed leg bones after being hit by a vehicle. He received emergency treatment and is now healing smoothly.

Shakti, a cow with a tragic past — first losing her newborn calf, then suffering trauma from being deceived into lactation, followed by a vehicle accident and uterine prolapse – found sanctuary and healing thanks to the intervention of Almighty Animals.

Sunitha Christy Animal Rescue

Two bulls, Milo and Zorro, lovingly named by young Iyla, were rescued just before being sold for slaughter. With ACW's sponsorship, they are now safe and living peacefully in sanctuary care.

Hen Harbor

We were thrilled to provide specialized bird boots and a waterer for the residents of Hen Harbor, helping protect their delicate feet and ensuring access to clean water throughout the changing seasons.

Emergency Relief Efforts

In response to devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, ACW contributed to relief efforts aiding both people and animals by supporting the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), Pasadena Humane Society, and Zooh Corner Rabbit Rescue. These grants helped provide care, food, and shelter for those impacted during the crisis.

Celebrating Compassion Through Community

International Women’s Day (IWD) – March 2025

Our IWD celebration in Cupertino was a powerful gathering of voices, stories, and action. We honored women from diverse backgrounds and spotlighted the incredible work being done for animal advocacy and sustainability. Mayor Liang Chao and Madhulika Singh from PreetiRang Sanctuary delivered inspiring speeches, and the event received a special commendation from the City of Cupertino.

Attendees enjoyed delicious plant-based fare, shopped handcrafted goods made by women artisans, and grooved to energetic BollyFIT performances – all supported by community partners like Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, and Plant Based Treaty.

Earth & Arbor Day – April 5, 2025

At Cupertino’s annual Earth & Arbor Day celebration, ACW shared plant-based treats and eco-conscious products towards shaping a more compassionate, sustainable future. Visitors learned firsthand how compassionate lifestyle choices can benefit the planet – starting with what’s on our plates. Special thanks to Plant Based Treaty Bay Area for amplifying this important message.

Plant Based Treaty (PBT) Collaboration

This year, we deepened our partnership with the Plant Based Treaty (PBT) – a global grassroots campaign tackling the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and food insecurity by advocating for plant-based food systems.

ACW has actively encouraged local organizations, individuals, and businesses to endorse the PBT – a voluntary pledge aligning with ethical, sustainable, and health-forward values. Our President, Dr. Seema Vaid, helped secure an endorsement from La Pizzeria during a Mayor’s Chat session and also made a public comment at the City of Cupertino’s Sustainability Commission to advocate for this urgent cause.

PBT generously provided a food grant for our International Women’s Day event and co-hosted our outreach table at Earth & Arbor Day 2025, reinforcing our shared mission of compassion for all beings and our planet.

Radio Feature: Off the Cuff with Namrita

In March, our founder Dr. Seema Vaid appeared on “Off the Cuff with Namrita” (Bolly 92.3FM), sharing her personal journey into animal advocacy and the founding story of ACW. The heartfelt conversation covered everything from grassroots activism to the global impact of our mission – and reminded us how one person’s compassion can ripple into meaningful impact.
